GuestSeptember 19, 2022 at 9:00 pmPost count: 124Genuinely curious about how other schools, specifically elementary and middle schools, address attendance. I work in a school with ZERO attendance policy. Many many kids rack up dozens of absences every year and are just shuffled along to the next grade level. Last year I had a student who was absent over 40 times and in addition had over 40 lates. At one point I tried to address the issue and the mother justified it by saying, “He learns more at home with me than he does in school”. These same parents are the ones who show up angry to the school when test scores and report cards reveal their kids are behind (duh)! Is this normal????

AP’s & counselors are asking teachers to falsify attendance records. Asking teachers to mark students present who are not and have not been on campus in days and some, even weeks. One student hasn’t stepped foot on campus at all.
