I am a language teacher at a school with behavior so bad that it is NEVER quiet in my classroom. I have a class of 36 that is just impossible. They never listen and are constantly talking, watching Netflix OUT LOUD on phones, blasting music so that I can hear their headphones across the room, calling me a bitch in front of security guards (who told me they have no idea who said it! ha!), and then today when given an assessment a girl writes "This teacher don't teaching us no Spanish" on it. Though it's a selective enrollment school most of these kids have D's and F's. Kids break my stuff all the time. I am miserable. anyone else in this situation!?

I taught a 5th grade class with three boys that were total jerks. Called me a bitch to my face, and refused to do any work. Crawling under the desks playing "snake" while I was trying to teach. The whole class would laugh and play along with these boys. Eventually, I had lost the entire class of 26. Fifth grade!!! I went home everyday praying to run off the road and die so I wouldn't have to go back and face them the next day. My administrator told me I didn't know how to "connect" with kids. This was my first year in this district after moving from being 12 years in another district and a very successful career and connections to kids. She took the boys' sides from the get go, which gave me no power for the rest of the year. I couldn't take away recess because "they need their exercise". When I sent them to the principal's office, she would buy them a coke and chat with them. It was the most awful year. I put in for a transfer to another school in the same district at the end of the year. Even though I "connect" with my current class, I am amazed at these lawnmower parents that mow a path in front of their kids so they never have to work hard. They come to school just to goof off. So far this year...two students took scissors to my new rug, one student cut up their school issued headphones, pencils are broken hourly, library books left on buses and strewn all over the floor...no respect for authority or property. I worry about the future of our world.
